New brunswick’s first hybrid operating room
The Chalmers Foundation is raising money to pay for a Hybrid Operating Room (OR) at Horizon Health Network’s Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECRH) serving Area 3 which encompasses the Fredericton and Upper River Valley regions of New Brunswick. It expects to raise $4.3 million.
The Government of New Brunswick is committing to funding the Hybrid OR to help with preparations for the new room. The ongoing operational costs are estimated at $3.3 million a year.
A Hybrid OR combines a traditional operating room with advanced medical imaging devices, allowing physicians to diagnose and perform complex, minimally invasive surgical procedures in one setting.
